Harbor Sheds – Galärskjulen

In the mid-18th century, the southern shore of Djurgården was lined with rectangular galley sheds in which naval ships were kept according to the Venetian model. Only two of these naval buildings, numbers 16 and 17, remain; the rest were destroyed in accidental fires or disappeared in the waves of demolitions that prevailed in Stockholm during the 19th century. The galley sheds on Djurgården are two of only three such naval buildings left in the country. In the last year, the buildings have been meticulously restored and repainted in their original red. Lomar Architects have redesigned the old buildings as a modern museum.
