In recent years, locally produced Swedish craft drinks have undergone a remarkable journey. The number of breweries, distilleries, vineyards, and cider houses has increased dramatically across the country, and the range of Swedish drinks has never been greater. Now, the exhibition Made in Sweden! opens at Spritmuseum to highlight the people putting Sweden on the beverage map.
Behind every Swedish craft beverage are people who work with their products from soil to bottle. Everything from farming, distilling, fermenting, and bottling to tasting, sales, and marketing is carried out by people who work hard for something they wholeheartedly believe in: Swedish beverages and genuine craftsmanship. Wine and cider producers, in particular, often spend just as much time in the vineyard and apple orchard as in the winery, cidery, or at the desk.
Food and beverage journalist Per Styregård has, over the course of a year, visited and documented 14 Swedish cideries and vineyards together with photographer Erik Olsson. Together, they shape a story of hard work, craftsmanship, and passion among Sweden’s wine and cider makers. It’s a story of old traditions meeting the beverage culture of the future in a Sweden that is undergoing change.
About the exhibition
Made in Sweden! is a traveling outdoor exhibition. It is installed outside Spritmuseum at Djurgårdsstrand 9 during the summer of 2025, and will then travel to other parts of Sweden. Of course, visiting the outdoor exhibition is free of charge, but you will need an admission ticket to see the rest of the museum’s exhibitions.
The exhibition is produced by Spritmuseum and curated by Per Styregård.
