exhibition of Swedish drinking culture in Stockholm

This is Spritmuseum’s permanent exhibition focusing on Sweden’s bittersweet relationship to alcohol, from the 15th century until today. Experience Swedish drinking culture and history through sceneries, films, scents, and music. In this vibrant exhibition, habits are explored, and prejudices are disarmed.

Sweden: Spirits of a Nation highlights aspects of drinking culture that we all recognize – whether we drink or not. Come along and discover traditional Swedish drinking songs, the art of distilling, and how alcohol shapes identity, norms, attitudes, and values. Don’t miss out on the tasting experience intertwined in the exhibition, where you can taste classic Swedish drinks, rare spirits and natural wines.

With this exhibition, we aim to activate all your senses and memories. Test your ability to distinguish between whiskey and rum aged in barrels, learn more about Swedish alcohol production, including rules and restrictions, and take the quiz to test your knowledge. And finish your experience with a tasting tray at the bar featuring three schnapps and a punsch (a traditional Swedish liqueur made from arrack, sugar, and spices).
